Dear Parents,
We are very conscious
that there is an almost daily changing picture regarding the coronavirus
outbreak in the UK at the moment and that there is a lot of information
circulating in the media, some of which is really helpful and other which is
misleading. Hopefully this letter will keep you informed about the school’s
current position.
We have some FAQs and answers below to help with other
information:
How is Beaucroft keeping my child safe?
We are strictly following Public Health
England guidance. We are receiving and following daily updates from public
health England via the DFE which are specific to all education establishments.
What do I do if my child is ill?
If you believe that your child may have
any symptoms of Covid-19, you should keep them at home and call NHS 111 for
guidance.
If a child comes to school, and if the
school has a genuine view that the child is displaying the above symptoms,
parents will be contacted and asked to collect their child as with any other
situation where a child becomes unwell. Parents will be reminded of the need to
isolate from the day when the child’s symptoms first started.
What do I do if my child or a member of my family is told to self-isolate for 7/14 days?
Please contact the school office so that we are aware.
What do I do if my child has an underlying medical condition?
Contact your GP or NHS111 for specific guidance and keep us informed.
What will happen if the school has to
close?
The current guidance is that schools should
not close unless specifically told to do so by Public Health England, although
guidelines are being constantly updated. Should we be told to close, we will
communicate directly with you about what is happening via our usual channels of
communication. We will also use our school website to update families. We are
also monitoring staffing and will inform you if our levels are likely to effect
partial closures in particular areas of the school.
How can I support my child?
- By providing reassurance; it appears that people under the age of 20 are not as significantly affected by the virus as older people.
- Encourage everyone to properly follow hand washing and personal hygiene precautions, especially when entering the home and before eating anything.
- Make sure we have the most up to date contact details for you and your child.
- Stay up-to-date with the official Public Health England guidance.
- Contact the school office if you have any concerns.
More information about the coronavirus
can be found on the Public Health England (PHE) website at https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/public-health-england
This is being updated continuously. Information for those returning from travel
or visitors arriving in the UK from certain overseas locations, with or without
symptoms, can also be found on the PHE website.
We understand that this is an uncertain
time but please be assured that we will be doing everything possible to keep
you well informed. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any
concerns. In the meantime, please refer to school comms and the Beaucroft
school website.
Regards,
Diane Makariou/Joe Barnett
